Bio

Christopher Potter is a guitarist, composer, and educator from Rochester, NY. By the age of 4, he had taken an interest in the guitar, and with the help of his father’s instruction, began playing professionally in his early teens. He has studied privately with Bob Sneider (Eastman School of Music), and Steve Brown (Ithaca College).

Christopher completed his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at SUNY Purchase in May of 2023, under the tutelage of Pasquale Grasso. While pursuing his degree, Christopher was awarded the John Abercrombie Scholarship Grant. He is currently living in Manhattan, NYC, and has had the privilege of performing with jazz masters including Marcus Printup, John Mosca, Gary Smulyan, Ralph Lalama, and Ari Roland, among others. He has been heard playing at New York City jazz venues including Baretto Jazz Lounge and Dizzy’s Club.

In the Fall of 2022, Christopher accepted the position of Applied Instructor of Jazz Guitar at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
